Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Operator

555 International | 4501 S. Western Blvd. Chicago, IL 60609

Full Time | On site

We are seeking a CNC Operator here at 555, International! An amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in retail, commercial, restaurant, and hospitality custom millwork fabrication. We are looking for talented, hard-working team players with creative sensibilities to help with unique challenges and varied assignments. We are looking for a person that can dive right in with a valuable skill set and be responsible for the daily preparation and machining of material for our widely varied custom produced millwork. You will oversee the ongoing operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the machines, and surrounding work area.

 

Here our Machine Operators are dedicated members of our team who are comfortable wearing multiple hats throughout the workday. As a contributing member the production process, being a detail oriented, organized individual will make sure you thrive in our fast-paced environment. Being a self-starter, having a willingness to take the bull by the proverbial horns, and outside the box thinking are pluses when it comes to our group. CNC Operators report to senior programmer and shop leadership team members to create award-winning cool shit.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operation and monitoring of CNC machines throughout the day

  • Machine start-up procedure

  • Loading and running of programs into the CNC machines

  •  Last look, double check of programs prior to running on the CNC machines

  • Problem solving of programs as they may arise as programs are running

  • General material knowledge

  • Prepare parts to be loaded into CNC machines

  • Unload and load parts in CNC machines

  • Monitor machine operating condition

  • Calibrating tooling and maintaining tool database

  • Clean and perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines

  •  Machine shutdown procedure

  • Safety checks throughout the work day

  • Forklift operation to move material around the warehouse

  • Coordinate with team members at all levels within 555 to ensure full coordination of production jobs as they move through the CNC process

  • Rendering Capabilities

Qualifications

  •  Degree, Diploma, or GED or training related to job requirement

  •  Work experience which demonstrates performance competency

  • 2+ Years of experience operating CNC Machining specifically

  • Other machine competencies: Beam saw/Panel saw, CNC point to point, CNC Router

  • Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift

  • Ability to regularly lift and move material throughout the duration of the shift

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend

  • Ability to perform moderate math calculations

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and work autonomously

Project engineer

We are looking for a person that can dive right in with a valuable skill set and work with project managers to develop and complete all relevant models and documents required for client approvals and shop production.

 

Here our Project Engineers are creative, dedicated members of our team who are comfortable wearing multiple hats throughout the workday. As a contributing member to all stages of the engineering process, being a detail-oriented, organized individual will make sure you thrive in our fast-paced environment. Being a self-starter, having a willingness to take the bull by the proverbial horns, and outside the box thinking are pluses when it comes to our group. A passion for creating and designing high-quality, unique, forward-thinking architectural millwork is a must, along with the technical knowledge and expertise to bring the ideas to life. Project Engineers report to Senior Engineering and Project Management team members to create award-winning cool shit.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Design and Engineer custom millwork including cabinetry, molding, paneling, metal, and unlimited custom pieces to meet specific client needs

  • Utilize Solidworks to generate accurate models and create drawings for manufacturing

  • Work collaboratively with architects, designers, and other team members to create unique, functional, and beautiful millwork products

  • Apply mechanical design, industrial design, human factor, and engineering principles to ensure the success of the custom produced products

  • Work with project management to prioritize projects

  • Work with shop personnel to answer questions on drawings or design that may arise

  • Coordinate with team members at all levels within 555, to ensure full coordination of production jobs

  • Attend on-site meetings and assist with field measurements when needed

  • Represent 555 in a professional manner with clients, GCs, and others as required virtually and in person

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Engineering, Industrial Design, or related fields

4+ Years of experience in architectural millwork design and fast-paced manufacturing and production environment

Strong working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and engineering software. 3D capabilities, Solidworks is a must.

Advanced Design skills and Mechanical aptitude are required including a functional knowledge of design, engineering materials, mechanical properties

Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes including metals, plastics, metal forming, welding, and assembly methods.

Ability to read and edit technical product drawings and specifications

Ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts with both technical and non-technical audiences

Ability to develop both practical and innovative solutions to problems

Project Management Skills.  Must demonstrate ability to think independently and work autonomously.

Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven work environment.

Exceptional communication (verbal/written) skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members

Diligent and detail-oriented as it relates to all aspects of engineering

Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to be forward-thinking and work under deadlines

General knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but not required

Experience with CNC Machines and woodshop tools preferred

Qualifications

Interior Design Degree

1+ years experience designing and working on commercial and hospitality environments is a plus, but not a requirement

Ability to work self-sufficiently. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and work autonomously.

Exceptional communication (verbal/written) skills

Diligent and detail oriented as it relates to all aspects of design

Interest in furniture, fixtures, finishes

Comfortable with talking to vendors and an interest in sourcing new products for the design team and specific projects

Familiarity with all phases of the design process, from big picture conception to detailed design to construction administration

Familiarity in specifications, construction documents and detailing

Familiarity in graphic and presentation skills

Proficient AutoCAD & Revit skills

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
