Product Description
The Sparrow, originally established in Chicago in 1927 was designed to be an escape for residents, looking for a nightcap or late night rendezvous with a mistress. This classic art deco apartment building and its lobby bar are a true reflection of the sophistication and maturity of the surrounding Gold Coast neighborhood.
After 75 years, 555 dusted it off, replaced the light bulbs, and re-opened to the public as the original establishment (with a few improvements). The re-opening focused on specialty rum cocktails, while keeping the existing patina. The mixologists here have long been privy to more intimate dialog than even the building’s doorman. All requests, all stories accepted, not judged but rather kept within the surrounding walls.
For inspiration behind the interior design, we looked to the name itself. What is the Sparrow? A social, beautiful and intelligent bird, yes. But a true persona of the residents who nested above: social and outgoing but also very private; established in their profession and craft, but a perfectionist; Always pondering the next move all while not moving much at all.
